1on1 meetings

As stated in the career development handbook, 1on1s between individual contributors and their managers are an essential part of our feedback culture and the go-to-place to talk about any situation that might affect both participants' work relation.

We recommend to have weekly 1on1s. These should be documented and follow a predictable and easy-to-prepare structure. This exemplary template can, for example, be used in a Google doc or in Notion for each 1on1. Thus, the 1on1 can be prepared beforehand and the appointment can focus on conversation.

Other 1on1s

Usually, team members also have 1on1s with peers, stakeholders, people from other divisions or units, etc. In these cases a different format might make sense, e.g. using a Slack channel to share topics or loose ideas.
