Remote work
At Thomann.io, we work together remotely and distributed. Our colleagues are located all over Germany, and some are based in Spain. With offices in Berlin and Erlangen, we offer the option to connect with colleagues who live nearby in an office environment, while remaining a remote-first setup. To make this setup work well, we rely on shared guidelines and clear expectations. This page summarizes the key remote-working requirements.
How we stay aligned
To ensure we can operate and thrive as a remote company, trust is essential. We love our flexible culture, but it only works if everyone plays by the rules.

Guidance process
When our remote guidelines aren't being followed, we address it directly. Here is our step-by-step process for getting things back on track:
- Direct feedback in your 1 on 1 : If there’s an issue, your manager will bring it up directly during your next 1 on 1. They’ll document it in your 1 on 1 notes so that expectations are clear from the start.
- Career development note: If things remain unchanged after 3–4 weeks, a written note will be added to your career development document. This can directly impact your next promotion and compensation review.
- Meeting with manager and People & Culture: If we still don’t see an improvement, we’ll set up a meeting with you, your manager, and People & Culture. We will map out clear expectations, a firm timeline, and the explicit consequences if things don’t change.
- Formal warning: If challenges persist after this, People & Culture will issue an official, legally compliant written warning to clearly document the gap between expectations and reality.
